The Brief
Heightsafe have previously attended Joseph Groome Towers to test their existing Guardrail System, and our engineers determined that the system didn’t meet the relevant British Standard and so would require replacement.
Our in-house estimating department, using the existing roof plans and our engineer’s survey, then designed the new system fully compliant with the current standards.
The Solution
Our Contracts team then organised the logistics of removing the previous system from the three roof areas via crane access, the loading of the new system to the roof, and arranged for our engineers to attend to install the new Guardrail.
Kee Guard Guardrail was determined to be the ideal solution, so as not to penetrate the roof surface as the previous system also wasn’t installed directly to the roof structure. Kee Guard is a freestanding system, which can be adjusted and adapted due to its modular design.
The Outcome
The new system provides collective Edge Protection for anyone needing to access the roof, and our client can be confident their system is fully compliant with the relevant British Standards.
After the Guardrail System was installed and certified, our team noted the Lightning Protection System also looked like it required some remedial works, and after liaising with the client, our dedicated Lightning Protection team were able to attend site and carry out repairs and a full system test, leaving the client with a comprehensive solution for both Roof Safety and Lightning Protection.
