Roof Safety Solutions for IBL Cold Stores
The Client
IBL Cold Stores stands as a premier provider of temperature-controlled solutions for UK food manufacturers, suppliers, and retailers. Operating from a four-acre site in Knowsley, on the outskirts of Liverpool, their facilities include a 110,000 square foot temperature-controlled store dedicated to cold storage, chill storage, tempering, product equalisation, blast freeze, and enclosed loading bays. Accredited to BRC and ISO 9001:2008, IBL Cold Stores plays a vital role in the food industry.
The Brief
IBL Cold Stores reached out to Heightsafe with a specific need – to enhance safety measures for roof access of their warehouse. This was imperative for operatives involved in tasks such as solar panel maintenance and general roof upkeep. Recognising the importance of a tailored solution, Heightsafe collaborated closely with IBL Cold Stores to address their unique requirements.
The Solution
Heightsafe’s in-house design team crafted a proposal that aligned with IBL Cold Stores’ building specifications and structural dimensions. After careful consideration, it was determined that a combination of a Fixed Guardrail and a Safety Line System would provide the most effective and safe solution for the project.
The Outcome
Heightsafe seamlessly executed the proposed solution, supplying, installing, testing, and certifying Safety Line Systems affixed to the metal deck roof sheets. Additionally, a total of 124 linear metres of KeeGuard Topfix Guardrail were installed around the perimeter of the roof. This integrated system ensures secure access for operatives engaged in solar panel maintenance and other general roof-related maintenance.
