Yet another company in court for scaffold collapse!

A loft conversion company is in court after being found for safety failings when an employee was injured in an awful scaffold collapse!

The framework tipped towards the property and bent on itself, causing a worker and many other materials to slope 6 metres onto the ground.

Thomas Pastura (24) broke two of his ribs and was very fortunate that it wasn’t worse or fatal.

The employer (Action-based Lofty Creations Ltd) was prosecuted by the HSE (Health and Safety Executive) after an investigation found that there was clear failings on the scaffold design.

The investigation also found that the weight of the materials on the scaffold at the time of the collapse was 3-3.5 tonnes (which is the equivalent of a transit van). This was a lot greater than it could handle and it collapsed because it couldn’t take the weight.

Lofty Creations UK Ltd were fined £5,000 and had to pay costs of £1,019 after pleading guilty to breaching the Health and Safety regulations.

Yet another shocking story brought by the HSE, luckily this time this man got away lucky!
