The Work at Height Regulations 2005 require employers to make sure anyone working at height is competent, or supervised by someone who is. They apply wherever someone could fall a distance liable to cause injury, not just at great heights.
The regulations set out a clear order of control: avoid work at height where possible, prevent falls with collective measures such as edge protection, and only then minimise the consequences with personal fall protection.
Our courses explain these duties in practical terms, so delegates understand what the law expects of them, how to plan work safely, and when to raise concerns before work begins.
Getting this wrong can lead to enforcement action as well as serious harm, so competence should be planned for before any work at height begins.

We host courses at Heightsafe’s premises, or our trainers can come out to your premises anywhere in the UK. On-site training lets delegates practise on the access routes, anchors and equipment they use every day.
Courses range from half a day to two days and combine classroom learning with practical exercises. Level 1 and Level 2 delegates fit equipment, climb with twin lanyards and see rescue techniques demonstrated.
Groups are kept small, with a trainer to student ratio of 1 to 10 on the awareness and manager courses, and 1 to 6 on Level 1, Level 2 and refresher courses.
Certification is provided on completion of every course and is valid for 3 years. Keeping records of each person’s training helps you show competence to clients, principal contractors and auditors.
Level 2 holders can renew their certificate with our one-day refresher. For specialist skills, delegates often add our Harness Awareness Training or Rooftop Safety Awareness Training.
