The Confined Spaces Regulations 1997 require employers to avoid entry to confined spaces wherever reasonably practicable. Where entry can’t be avoided, work must follow a safe system of work, and suitable emergency arrangements must be in place before anyone goes in.
The Health and Safety Executive’s Approved Code of Practice, L101 Safe Work in Confined Spaces, makes clear that everyone involved must be competent. The Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations 1999 also require employers to provide adequate training.
Every one of our courses covers this legislation, so delegates understand their own duties, the purpose of permits to work and risk assessments, and why rescue arrangements must be planned before entry.

Groups are kept small, with a trainer to student ratio of 1 to 8 on our low risk course and 1 to 6 on all other courses, so every delegate gets hands-on time and individual feedback.
