The Client
Berry BPI Recycling is a leading manufacturer of flexible packaging through the recycling of plastic, with sites across Europe. They have the capacity to recycle up to 100,000 tonnes of plastic waste every year. Berry BPI serve a wide variety of businesses – from small independent specialists across a variety of sectors to many of the world’s biggest brands and retail outlets.
The Brief
With a number of new silos installed, Berry BPI Recycling needed a Lightning Protection Installation at their site in the North West. They required a competent specialist to conduct a Lightning Protection Risk Assessment to determine what level of protection was required.
Due to the high-risk nature of materials contained within, the client’s maintenance manager contacted Heightsafe to provide a solution.
The Solution
Following a site survey and risk assessment by Heightsafe’s specialist team, the installation of class 3 antistatic Lightning Protection and Earthing Systems was determined to be the most suitable form of protection, and was agreed with the client.
The Lightning Protection System was designed to ensure safe discharge and earthing in the event of a lightning strike.
The Outcome
Class 3 antistatic Lightning Protection and Earthing Systems were fitted to a number of silos on the site, and Lightning Protection Compliance Testing was carried out by our engineers, ensuring Berry BPI Recycling are protected and compliant with regulations.
